Semper Solaris

Semper Solaris is a veteran-owned solar installation and home improvement company founded in 2012 in San Diego, California, by co-owners Kelly Shawhan, a former U.S. Marine Corps Captain, and John Almond. The company’s identity is deeply rooted in military values—such as integrity, loyalty, and attention to detail—which they strive to apply to every project. Inspired by the Marine Corps motto “Semper Fidelis,” Semper Solaris is committed to hiring members of the armed forces and supports the veteran community through the Semper Cares Initiative, which provides home improvements to deserving veterans and their families.

While originally specializing in solar power installation, Semper Solaris has expanded its services to include comprehensive home energy solutions. These services now cover solar panel installation, battery storage (such as Tesla Powerwall and Enphase), roofing installation and repair, and HVAC (heating and air conditioning) system upgrades, often using American-made, energy-efficient products with lifetime warranties. The company primarily operates across Southern California and the Bay Area but is expanding into new states, and it has earned over 40 awards for excellence in its field, including recognition as a top solar contractor, and maintains an A-plus rating from the Better Business Bureau.
