Ignite Power is a Pan-African developer and financier of distributed renewable energy solutions, specializing in solar power, clean cooking, and solar-enabled internet access. Founded in 2014 and based in Kigali, Rwanda, the company’s core mission is to provide essential infrastructure services to underserved communities across Sub-Saharan Africa. By leveraging digitized and decarbonized technologies, Ignite Power directly addresses the lack of access to basic energy and utility services in bottom-of-the-pyramid regions where traditional grid infrastructure is often limited or non-existent.

The company develops, finances, and operates a range of sustainable services, including distributed solar power for households and businesses, solar-powered irrigation systems to increase agricultural yields, and clean cooking solutions. These efforts have had a significant transformative impact, benefiting over 1.7 million people with affordable, reliable electricity and enabling households to save up to 75% on their monthly energy costs by replacing expensive fossil fuels.
